WD 4TB Portable Hard Drive in Kenya

Genuine WD | Portable External Hard Drive (HDD) | 4TB

The WD portable hard drive is a pocket-sized external drive from Western Digital, one of the best-known names in storage, for backing up photos, documents and media. Available in Kenya from City Gadgets Kenya as an authentic WD product, this page is for shoppers searching "WD 4TB external hard drive Kenya," "4TB portable hard drive Nairobi," "backup drive for laptop Kenya," or "cheap external storage Kenya."

Key specs at a glance

Figures come from retailer listings of WD's My Passport range. WD also sells an Elements range, which is simpler and lacks the My Passport's encryption software. Your supplier list gives only the brand and capacity, so ask our team to confirm the exact model, colour and warranty of the unit you order.

This is a hard drive, not an SSD

It's worth being clear about this. A portable hard drive (HDD) stores data on spinning disks. Compared with a portable SSD, it is slower, heavier, noisier in use and more sensitive to knocks while running, but it gives you far more storage for the money. For backups, archives and large media libraries, that trade-off is worth it. For speed and toughness, see the SanDisk portable SSDs in our range.

Is 4TB the right size for you?

A 4TB drive is for big libraries: years of photos, a large video archive, or several computers' backups in one place.

Who it's for

Photographers and videographers with big archives.

Households consolidating several old drives.

Small businesses that keep large project files.

How it compares

Pick 4TB if you want the most space in a portable drive. Because so much data sits on one drive, keep a second copy of anything important.

Looking after a hard drive

• Avoid moving or knocking it while it's reading or writing.
• Always eject it safely before unplugging.
• For important files, keep a second copy, because any drive can fail.
