Who is responsible for your data

City Gadgets Kenya, trading from New Alnoor Exhibition, Shop 7, Second Floor, Taveta Road, Nairobi CBD, is the data controller for information collected through this website and our WhatsApp sales lines. Contact details are at the bottom of this page.

What we collect

• Order and delivery details — your name, phone number, delivery address and what you ordered. We need these to sell and deliver to you.
• Account details — if you create an account, your email address and the sign-in method you chose, plus your saved addresses and order history.
• Payment information — we record that a payment was made, its method and amount. We do notcollect or store card numbers or M-PESA PINs; payment is completed on the provider’s own systems.
• Warranty records — the serial or IMEI of the device you bought, so we can verify cover without you having to prove it later.
• Messages you send us — WhatsApp conversations, contact-form submissions, repair and trade-in enquiries.
• Usage data — pages viewed, approximate location by IP, device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site.

Why we use it

• To take, deliver and support your order, and to honour warranties.
• To answer your questions on WhatsApp, email or the contact form.
• To keep the shop working — hosting, security, fraud prevention and stock accuracy.
• To understand which products and pages people find useful, so we stock and write better.
• To advertise our products, including to people who have visited the site before.
• To meet our legal and tax obligations.

Cookies, analytics and advertising pixels

This site uses cookies and similar technologies. Some are strictly necessary — they keep your cart and your sign-in working. The rest are for measurement and advertising:

• Google Analytics 4 — how the site is used, in aggregate, so we can improve it.
• Meta (Facebook/Instagram) Pixel — measures the results of our ads and lets us show relevant ads to people who have visited the site.
• TikTok Pixel — the same, for our TikTok advertising.

These tools set their own cookies and receive your IP address, the pages you view, and events such as viewing a product, adding to cart or starting a checkout. They do not receive your name, phone number or payment details from us.

You can turn them off at any time in your browser settings, or by using its “do not track” and tracking-protection features. Blocking them does not stop you shopping here. You can also opt out of personalised advertising in your Google, Meta and TikTok account settings.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share only what is needed, with providers who process it on our behalf:

• Delivery riders and courier companies — name, phone and delivery address only.
• Supabase, which hosts our product, account and order database.
• Vercel, which hosts and serves the website.
• Google, Meta and TikTok, for the analytics and advertising described above.
• Payment providers, to process and confirm your payment.
• Manufacturers and authorised service centres, where a warranty claim requires it.

Some of these providers store data outside Kenya. Where that happens we rely on their contractual data protection commitments to keep the same standard of protection.

How long we keep it

Order, receipt and warranty records are kept for as long as the warranty runs and for as long as tax law requires afterwards. Account data is kept until you ask us to delete the account. Enquiry messages are kept only as long as they are useful for supporting you.

Your rights

Under the Data Protection Act, 2019 you may ask us to confirm what data we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, delete it, or stop using it for marketing. Message us on WhatsApp or email and we will act on the request. You may also complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner if you are not satisfied with our response.

To stop marketing messages, reply STOP to any message or tell us on WhatsApp — it takes effect immediately and does not affect messages about an order you have placed.

Children

This site is intended for customers aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal data, we will update this page and the “last updated” date above. Material changes will be announced on the site.
