Key specs at a glance

Figures come from Sony and retailer listings of the BRAVIA 8 II range. Ask our team to confirm the exact model code, region version and warranty of the unit you order.

What it's good at

The BRAVIA 8 II is Sony's premium OLED. Each pixel lights itself, so blacks are perfect, and the Quantum Dot layer adds vivid, accurate colour with consistent colour from wide viewing angles. The 120 Hz panel, 4K 120 Hz HDMI ports and PlayStation-friendly features suit films and serious gaming, and Acoustic Surface Audio+ turns the screen into a speaker.

What to know

OLED costs the most, and it's less bright than Mini LED, so it's best in rooms where you can control the light. As with all OLED TVs, static images left on screen for very long periods can risk burn-in, which is rare in normal use.

Is 65 inches the right size

A 65-inch screen is about 144 cm wide, and the TV is a little wider with its frame. As a rough guide for 4K, most people sit at about 1 to 1.5 times the screen diagonal away, so a 65-inch TV suits a viewing distance of roughly 1.7 to 2.5 m. Measure your wall and stand before you order.

Before you buy: tuner and region

TVs are sold in different region versions. Kenya's free-to-air digital channels use the DVB-T2 standard, and some imported models, such as US versions, don't have that tuner. Ask our team to confirm that the unit is a version with a DVB-T2 tuner, or plan to use a decoder or a streaming service.

How it compares

The BRAVIA 5 (XR50), also in our range, is a Mini LED that's brighter and costs less. Choose this OLED for the best picture in a dimmer room.
