Key specs at a glance

Figures come from Sony and retailer listings of the BRAVIA 3 range. Ask our team to confirm the exact model code, region version and warranty of the unit you order.

What it's good at

The BRAVIA 3 is a step above Sony's entry model: Triluminos Pro gives richer, more natural colour, and it adds PlayStation 5 features such as Auto HDR Tone Mapping and an Auto Genre picture mode. It runs Google TV and supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, so it covers most families' needs for streaming, sport and console gaming at 4K 60.

What to know

It's a native 60 Hz panel, so it doesn't support 120 Hz gaming, and it uses a Direct LED backlight, so contrast is not at Mini LED or OLED level. For 120 Hz and deeper blacks, look at the BRAVIA 5 (Mini LED) or BRAVIA 8 II (OLED).

Is 85 inches the right size

An 85-inch TV needs a large wall and a sturdy stand or wall mount. Ask us about delivery and mounting arrangements.

A 85-inch screen is about 188 cm wide, and the TV is a little wider with its frame. As a rough guide for 4K, most people sit at about 1 to 1.5 times the screen diagonal away, so a 85-inch TV suits a viewing distance of roughly 2.2 to 3.2 m. Measure your wall and stand before you order.

Before you buy: tuner and region

TVs are sold in different region versions. Kenya's free-to-air digital channels use the DVB-T2 standard, and some imported models, such as US versions, don't have that tuner. Ask our team to confirm that the unit is a version with a DVB-T2 tuner, or plan to use a decoder or a streaming service.

How it compares

The BRAVIA 2 II (S20), also in our range, costs less. The BRAVIA 5 (XR50) adds Mini LED brightness and a 120 Hz panel.
