Key specs at a glance

The features above come from Hisense's comparable 7 kg models. Exact features vary by model. Ask our team to confirm the exact model code, spin speed, features, dimensions and warranty of the unit you order.

What it's good at

The 7 kg size suits a small family. Hisense's 7 kg front loaders are listed with an inverter motor, which is quieter and more energy-efficient, a steam wash that tackles stains and allergens, and a quick wash for lightly soiled clothes.

Is this the right size

A 7 kg drum suits two to three people. It handles a normal week's laundry and the odd bulky item.

Front load vs top load

Front-load machines generally use less water and electricity than top loaders, and they're gentler on clothes. The trade-offs are that cycles often take longer, and you should wipe the door seal and leave the door ajar after use to prevent odours.

Before it arrives: installation checklist for Kenyan homes

• Water inlet and drain. You need a tap for the inlet hose and a drain point. Confirm the water pressure, and if your supply is irregular, use a water tank.
• A level floor. The machine must sit level to stay stable at high spin speeds.
• Remove the transit bolts. Front loaders ship with bolts on the back that must be removed before the first wash.
• A voltage guard or surge protector to protect the motor and electronics from power fluctuations.
• Space around it. Leave a few centimetres behind the machine for hoses and airflow, and allow room to open the door.
• Weight and access. Front loaders are heavy, typically 60 kg or more. Measure doors and stairs, and tell us about your access when you order.

Who it's for

Small families.

Couples who want a little extra room.

Households with limited space.

How it compares

The 6 kg is more compact, and the 8 kg and 9 kg models, also in our range, are better for bigger loads.
