DJI effectively defined consumer drones and still holds the category. Its obstacle sensing, transmission range and flight stability are far enough ahead that most professional aerial work in the region is shot on DJI hardware.

Beyond drones, DJI's Osmo gimbals and action cameras are a staple of content production — the Osmo Pocket line in particular has become the default one-handed camera for creators who want stabilised video without a rig.

If you are shooting commercially in Kenya, note that drone use is regulated by the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority: registration and permits are required, and the rules differ for recreational and commercial flying. Confirm your obligations before you fly.

Which DJI to buy

Start with a Mini unless you are shooting commercially — it is the easiest to fly, cheapest to replace and sits in the lightest regulatory class. Add an Osmo Pocket before you add a second drone.
