Multiplayer

Multiplayer is where most players spend their time. Activision says MW4 has a reworked gunplay system called Ballistic Authority, with no bloom, rebuilt recoil and convergence and refined visuals. Movement has been expanded with mantling, climbing, hanging and jumping, so you can get around obstacles in more ways.

Warzone and Season 1

Activision says Warzone connects with Modern Warfare 4 content starting with Season 1, which follows shortly after launch. Warzone is listed as free on PlayStation's page. Warzone is no longer playable on PS4 or Xbox One starting with Season 1, per Activision. If you only want Warzone, you do not need to buy MW4, but you will need it for the MW4 content.

Online play on PS5 needs three things. First, a PlayStation Plus subscription, which PlayStation's page lists as required for online play. A standard PS5 has limited storage, and a 115 GB game takes a big share. If you have other large games installed, you may need to delete some or add storage. The DualSense controller

PlayStation's page states that vibration and trigger effects are supported on the DualSense wireless controller. On a PS5 this means the controller can give feedback through vibration and resistance in the triggers, so firing a weapon can feel different from firing another. The page does not describe the effects in detail, so we do not either. Some players turn trigger effects off for competitive play, and you can change the settings in the game or the console.

Age rating and parents

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is rated Mature 17+ by the ESRB, for blood and gore, intense violence, strong language and use of drugs, per PlayStation's page. The page also notes in-game purchases and that users interact online.
