Grand Theft Auto VI (PS5) in Kenya

The next Rockstar open-world crime game for PS5, sold as a boxed download code with no disc.

Grand Theft Auto VI, usually written as GTA 6 or GTA VI, is the next main game in the Grand Theft Auto series from Rockstar Games, made for PlayStation 5. Available in Kenya from City Gadgets Kenya, this page is for shoppers searching "Grand Theft Auto VI PS5", "GTA 6 PS5 Kenya", "GTA VI Kenya", "GTA 6 PS5 code", "GTA 6 disc or digital", "buy GTA 6 Nairobi" or "PS5 games Kenya".

Few games have been waited for as long as this one. People searching for GTA 6 in Kenya usually want three answers: when it comes out, whether it is a disc or a code, and how to be sure they get a working copy. This page answers all three honestly.

Key specs at a glance

Specifications on this page come from what Rockstar Games and published reports have said so far. The game was not on sale when this page was written, so some details, such as the install size, the final age rating and the online features, are not confirmed. We confirm each detail per unit when stock arrives, and we will not guess.

What's in the box

According to published reports, the boxed Standard Edition for PS5 is a case that holds a download code rather than a game disc. You redeem the code on your PlayStation account to download the game. Because the game is not released yet, we confirm the exact contents of the pack with you, including the region of the code, before you pay, and we show you the sealed pack when it is in stock.

What Grand Theft Auto VI is

Grand Theft Auto VI is the next main game in Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto series, which began more than twenty years ago and includes some of the best-selling games ever made. The previous main game, Grand Theft Auto V, stayed on sale for over a decade, so the wait for a successor has been long, and that is why people search for "GTA 6 PS5 Kenya" and "Grand Theft Auto VI PS5" so often.

Like earlier games in the series, it is an open-world action game. You move through a large map on foot and in vehicles, follow a crime story told through missions, and choose how much time to spend on the story and how much on exploring. Rockstar has shown the game in trailers, and what follows is limited to what the company and published reports have said. Where something has not been confirmed, we say so.

Is GTA 6 a disc or a digital code?

This is the question we are asked most. According to published reports in October 2026, the boxed PS5 edition of GTA 6 is a "code in a box". The case looks like a normal PS5 game case, but inside is a download code, not a game disc. You enter the code on the PlayStation Store using your PlayStation account, and the game downloads to your console.

We want to be careful here. The reports we read name no single official source, and one site says Rockstar confirmed the change. An earlier comment from the head of Take-Two, Rockstar's parent company, said that the release would not be staggered between digital and physical, and some outlets read this as a promise of a disc. A later correction made clear that the comment did not establish a playable disc. Our advice is simple: we confirm the format of the stock with you before you pay, and we will tell you plainly if a unit is a code or a disc.

If you have a PS5 Digital Edition, which has no disc drive, a code is exactly what you need. If you have a PS5 with a disc drive, a code works just as well, but you will not have a disc to lend, resell or keep on a shelf.

When does GTA 6 come out?

The release date announced by Rockstar is 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. Published reports say that boxed copies and the preload period begin a week earlier, on 12 November 2026. A preload lets you download the game before launch so that it is ready to play when the game unlocks. A PC version has not been announced.

The date for this game has moved before, so treat any date as the publisher's current plan. We confirm availability and delivery arrangements with you directly, and we can tell you when our stock is expected to arrive.

The story and the world

Rockstar has described the game as set in the fictional state of Leonida, a sunny, Florida-inspired place that includes the return of Vice City, a city that fans know from earlier games. The trailers show beaches, swamps, highways, neon-lit streets and small towns, and a story that follows two main characters, Lucia and Jason.

The series has always combined crime stories with satire of modern life, and the trailers suggest the same tone: bold, funny, violent and adult. Beyond that, the detailed story, the length of the campaign and the map size are things we will not guess at. If a detail matters to your purchase, ask us and we will tell you whether it has been confirmed.

How the game is expected to play

Grand Theft Auto games are built around driving, shooting and missions in a living city. You drive cars and bikes, fly or sail when the game allows it, take on story missions, and choose from side activities. The controls are made to be learned quickly, and the difficulty usually rises with the story.

Rockstar's earlier games have switched between characters or follow one story through several chapters, but we do not describe the mission design of GTA 6 beyond what the company has shown. We prefer a short page that is correct to a long page that is guesswork.

Is it suitable for children?

No. Grand Theft Auto games carry mature ratings, and the final rating for this one will be printed on the case and shown in the PlayStation Store. Expect strong violence, strong language, drug and alcohol references and adult themes, as in the earlier games. It is not a game for children, and parents who see a child asking for it should check the rating, use the family controls on the PS5 and think carefully before buying.

Adults who enjoy crime stories and dark humour will find a lot to like, and the family tools let you keep the game on an adult profile.

Which PS5 does it play on?

This listing is for the PlayStation 5 version. It plays on the standard PS5 with a disc drive and on the PS5 Digital Edition, because a code does not need a disc drive. Whether the game has special features on the PS5 Pro, such as better graphics modes, has not been confirmed to us, so we do not promise them.

This is not a PlayStation 4 game, so it will not run on a PS4. If you own a PS4, tell us, and we will suggest a game that suits it.

How to redeem the code

When you receive the pack, check that it is sealed and that the case matches what we confirmed. When you are ready, sign in to your PlayStation account, open the PlayStation Store and choose the option to redeem a code. Enter the code carefully, character by character, and confirm. The game is then added to your library and begins to download. Keep the case and the code until the download is complete and the game starts.

Redeem the code on the account that will own the game, because the licence stays with that account. Do not share the code or a photo of it with anyone before you have redeemed it, because whoever redeems it first gets the licence.

Install size and storage

The install size had not been published when this page was written, and we will not invent a number. Games of this kind are among the largest on the console, and a day-one update is common. Check your free space before launch day, delete games you no longer play, and keep the console on a surge-protected extension while it downloads.

Online features

Earlier Grand Theft Auto games included a separate online mode with its own character, missions and events. We have not been told what online features GTA 6 will have, and we do not promise any. Treat the single-player story as the reason to buy, and any online mode as a possible extra. Online play on a PS5 normally needs a PlayStation Plus subscription for multiplayer, and the cost of that subscription is separate from the game.

What is in the box

The pack is expected to be a standard PS5 case with a download code, and possibly printed inserts. We do not know whether a map or other extras are included, and we confirm the contents when stock arrives. If you see a pack that contains a disc, tell us what the label says and we will help you check it.

Why people prefer a boxed code to a store download

Some players buy a boxed code even though they could buy the game directly in the store. A boxed pack can be paid for with M-Pesa at the shop or on delivery arrangements, without a bank card on the PlayStation Store. It is also easier for a parent to buy a game as a gift without entering card details on the console. And it comes as a physical pack that you can hand to someone as a present.

The trade-off is that a code is used once. After it is redeemed, it cannot be returned, resold or lent.

Buying safely: avoid fake and used codes

Codes for popular games are a favourite target of scammers. Be careful of a seller who sends only a photo of a code, a seller who asks you to pay before you have any proof of stock, and a pack that looks opened or re-sealed. A used code does not work, and a seller who cannot be found is hard to get help from.

At City Gadgets Kenya you can visit the shop, see the sealed pack, ask your questions face to face and get a receipt. For delivery orders, call us first, confirm the stock, and keep your receipt. If anything is wrong with the pack when it arrives, call Customer Relations on 0794 488 806 straight away.

Planning launch day

If you want to play on 19 November, plan the week before. Confirm your order with us early, because demand for a game like this can be high and stock can run out. Check your free space on the console, and make sure your internet plan can handle a very large download. If you are collecting from the shop, tell us when you will come, and if you want delivery in Nairobi, confirm before 3pm so it can reach you the same day.

If you have a preload option, use it. Preloading lets you download the game in the days before launch, so you can start playing as soon as it unlocks. Remember that the code has to be redeemed on your account first, so do not wait until the last minute.

Gifting GTA 6

A boxed code is easy to give as a present, but a few points are worth remembering. Check the age rating and that the recipient is old enough, make sure they own a PS5, and tell them which region the code is for. A gift is best bought together with a note that the code should be redeemed on the recipient's own account. If you are buying for someone else, tell us and we will check the details with you.

Pairing it with the right accessories

A long game is easier with the right gear. A second controller is useful if the first one is flat, a charging dock keeps your controller ready, and a good headset helps if you play at night. If your console storage is limited, ask us about extra storage that is compatible with the PS5. We recommend things that you will actually use, not a bundle for the sake of it.

Playing a big PS5 game in a Kenyan home

Most PS5 owners in Kenya play in a sitting room or bedroom, often on a console shared by family members of different ages. A few habits make a big game easier to live with. Plug the console into a surge-protected extension, because power can spike when it returns after an outage, and an interrupted install or save is the kind of thing that wastes a day. Keep the console where air can flow around it, never in a closed cabinet, and wipe dust from the vents with a dry cloth.

Storage is the everyday issue with large games. A modern open-world release can take a very large part of the console's internal drive, and it often receives big updates after launch. Before a major release, look at how much free space you have and delete finished games you no longer play. A game you delete can be downloaded again later, as long as the licence is on your account, and your saved progress can be kept in the cloud if you have the subscription that allows it. If you play many large games, ask our team about extra storage that suits your console.

Internet, data and downloading in Kenya

A code-in-a-box game has to be downloaded, so your internet connection matters more than it does with a disc. Fixed home fibre or a stable home router is far better than mobile data for a download of this size. Before you start, check your bundle or your fibre plan, because a very large download can use a great deal of data. Start the download at a quiet time, such as overnight, keep the console in rest mode with downloads enabled, and plug the console into a surge-protected extension so a power cut does not interrupt it. If the download stops, the console normally resumes it when the connection returns.

If your home connection is slow or capped, tell us before you buy. It is better to plan the download than to be surprised by it on launch day, when many players are downloading at the same time and the servers can be slow.

Your PlayStation account and region

A code in a box is tied to a PlayStation Store region. The code works only on an account set to the matching region, so the region on the code and the region of your account must agree. Most players in Kenya use a store region that matches the stock they buy, and we confirm the region of the stock with you before you pay. If you are not sure which region your account uses, open the account settings on your console or ask us and we will explain how to check. Do not change your account region on a console that already holds purchases without taking advice first, because it can affect what you can access.

Keep your account details private. We never need your password to sell you a game, and you should be wary of anyone who asks for it. Redeem the code yourself, on your own account, so that the licence belongs to you.

Age ratings and family settings

Games carry age ratings that guide whether a game suits a child. A rating is a general guide and does not replace a parent's judgement. The PS5 has family management tools that let a parent create a child account, set age limits for games, limit daily play time and control spending in the store. If children share your console, set these up before the game is installed, and choose a profile for the adult who plays this title. Adult games are best played after children have gone to bed or with headphones on.

Looking after your console and controller

Wipe the controller with a dry cloth, keep the console on a flat surface and away from direct sunlight, and avoid moving it while it is on. A long game means long sessions, so take breaks, drink water, and keep the room ventilated. Charge your controller before a long session, or ask us about a charging dock so a flat battery does not interrupt the story.

Warranty and stock

Games are digital licences or sealed packs, and the terms depend on the product. We explain the terms for the specific unit before you pay, and Customer Relations on 0794 488 806 handles questions after purchase. Keep your receipt and the case, and do not scratch or reveal the code until you are ready to redeem it.

Strengths and limits

What we like:

• Rockstar's next main game in a series known for scale and polish.
• Planned for PS5, with a launch date of 19 November 2026.
• A boxed code is quick to redeem and works on a PS5 with or without a disc drive.
• Easy to give as a gift when the recipient's region and age rating are checked.
• We confirm the format, region and contents with you before you pay.

What to keep in mind:

• Reports say there is no disc, so you cannot lend, resell or collect it as a disc.
• The download will be very large, and the exact size had not been published.
• A code can be redeemed once and the region must match your account.
• Mature content makes it unsuitable for children.
• Some details, such as online features and PS5 Pro enhancements, were not confirmed when this page was written.

Who should buy the Grand Theft Auto VI (PS5)

• PS5 owners who want the next big open-world crime game on launch week.
• Players with a PS5 Digital Edition who need a code rather than a disc.
• Adults who enjoy crime stories, driving and exploring a large open world.
• Anyone with a reliable home internet connection and enough free storage.
• Gift buyers who have checked the age rating and the recipient's account region.

Who should look elsewhere

• Anyone who needs a game disc to lend, resell or keep on a shelf.
• Players who own only a PS4, because this is a PS5 game.
• Households with children who cannot supervise the console, because the game is for adults.
• Players on a very slow or capped connection, who should plan the download first.
• Buyers who want an online mode guaranteed, because online features were not confirmed.

Compare before you buy

GTA 6 or GTA V. GTA V is a proven game with a huge story and an online mode that has run for years, and it costs less. GTA 6 is the new game with a new setting and characters. If you have never played a Grand Theft Auto game, GTA V is a good way to see if the series suits you, and we sell it for other consoles.

Boxed code or a store download. A boxed code can be bought and paid for in person and makes a good gift. A store download is instant and needs a payment card or a wallet balance on your account. Both give you the same game, and both need a download.

PS5 or Xbox Series. This page is for the PS5. The Xbox Series version is a separate listing, so tell us which console you own.
