Huawei in Kenya
Outstanding cameras and wearables — with one important caveat about apps.
Huawei builds genuinely excellent hardware. Its camera systems, developed with Leica and later its own XMAGE branding, have repeatedly led the market, and its watches and earbuds are among the best-value wearables you can buy.
The caveat matters and you should know it before buying: since 2019, new Huawei phones ship without Google Mobile Services. That means no Google Play Store, and apps are installed through Huawei's AppGallery or sideloaded. Many popular apps are available, but some — including several banking and Google apps — are not, or work only partially.
That restriction applies to phones. Huawei watches, bands and earbuds pair normally with both Android and iPhone and are unaffected, which is why the wearables are often the easier recommendation.
