GoPro in Kenya

The original action camera — still the toughest mount ecosystem there is.

GoPro created the action camera category and still has its biggest advantage: mounts. Two decades of accessories mean there is an existing solution for almost any way you want to attach a camera to a helmet, bike, board, vehicle or chest.

The cameras themselves are waterproof without a case, and HyperSmooth stabilisation is good enough that handheld footage looks gimbal-mounted. For riding, diving, sport and travel, it remains the default.

DJI's Osmo Action and Insta360's Ace compete hard on sensor and low-light performance, so it is worth comparing — but if you already own GoPro mounts, staying in the system usually wins.

If you already own GoPro mounts, buy GoPro — the accessories are worth more than the spec differences. If you are starting fresh and shoot in low light, compare against DJI Osmo Action and Insta360 Ace first.
